Lately, I’ve been blogging a bit about the importance of patience and just taking it easy when it comes to sending out your manuscripts.
Today, I want to reflect on how critical it is that we take our time not only when we submit manuscripts, but when we write and revise them especially.
Most of us want instant results. Of course, this comes from living in a culture of immediate gratification. We want it and we want it now! But when it comes to building our writing career, we can’t get what we want right away.
Most writers want to get published, and they want to get some money coming in. But this process takes time, and you can’t rush the process. In fact, if you publish something that is of poor quality, this publication could affect your whole future writing career.
So it is very important that you take your time. This is necessary not only for your sanity as a writer but for your continued success. And we all want that as writers.
So take out a manuscript, and start editing. And continue editing until you feel good about it. Then it’s time to send it to an editor. This process is important for your vitality and success as a writer.
