The Benefits of Success Journalling

I have been tinkering with the idea of success
journaling for a while now. Ever since I joined
the National Writing for Children’s Center a year
and a half ago, Suzanne Lieurance has been on the
front lines promoting this concept. Although I
was a bit sceptical at first, I now know that
this has to change if I am to be a successful
writer.

Success journals are very important not only
because it gives writers a ‘place’ to share all
of their accomplishments, but because it is also
a place where writers can plan what they are
about to write and to outline their ongoing
projects as well. But more importantly, one of
the most important goals for the success journal
is for writers to note what works and what
doesn’t. It is just as important for writers to
write down what doesn’t work so that they won’t
make the same mistakes in future.

So, here’s the thing writers. Go to your local
dollar store or stationary store, buy a journal,
and write Success Journal on the cover in big
bold letters. And open it up and start writing
about your projects. You may want to start the
journal by listing your projects and how you are
doing on each of them. And don’t forget to take a
note of your success as well.

Good luck and let me know how things go for
you!
